Media work from Latin America continues to dominate globally

Media work from Latin America continues to dominate globally.

The Festival of Media Global ceremony took place last week – Thurs 11th June – and once again work from Latin America was at the forefront when it came to winning trophies.

For the past three to four years work from this region has been world leading, setting benchmarks and amplified on the global stage having gone toe-to-toe against regions around the world with far bigger budgets.

Over the last five years there has been a growing trend of Latam based entrants – from Brazil and Chile to Mexico and Argentina – entering the Festival of Media Latam Awards programme to gauge the success of their campaigns. If the work succeeds here with a shortlisting, highly commended or gold trophy accolade it is often submitted onto the world stage at Festival of Media Global. If it then achieves further recognition it has been entered into the Cannes Lions Awards programme and achieved further success.

Four years ago, GUT Brazil made its awards debut at Festival of Media Latam winning an impressive seven golds out of eight shortlisted entries. Within 12 months the agency had tasted further success at Festival of Media Global and Cannes Lions.

At last week’s Festival of Media Global Awards ceremony 20 shortlisted submissions – many entered into the Latam awards in 2025 – from countries including Costa Rica, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile impressed the judges and won trophies.

With an impressive 49% of the shortlisted work turning into trophies for Latin America the region saw Ecuador secure three bronze awards, with Wavemaker Ecuador winning two and Initiative Ecuador one, while PHD Chile also took Bronze. Taking home silvers were Initiative Argentina with one and Initiative Ecuador with two. The region also secured two Gold trophies for work from Wavemaker Ecuador and PHD Chile.

As the 2026 Festival of Media Latin America Awards entry deadline approaches, agencies, brands and media owners have an opportunity to benchmark their work, gain regional recognition and build the momentum that leads to global success.

To help with this year’s submissions there is an AI navigator trained on more than 10 years of Festival of Media Latam Awards data which helps draft entries and selects the right categories all based on a post analysis campaign report, or an explanation of the campaign.

The next international award-winning campaign could start here.
