Why does the Festival of Media Cause Campaigns Awards programme matter and why enter?

We’re often asked what the benefits of entering Festival of Media Awards programmes are, so we thought we’d start with a few ideas to help your budget holders justify the investment.

  1. History and reach

Festival of Media Cause Campaigns Awards was set up for three key reasons:

a) To highlight how media can be a force for good

b) To encourage more of the media industry to help make the world a better place

c) To showcase and highlight the media work that has seamlessly been implemented in campaigns and had a positive impact on society.

The programme turns six this year and has been instrumental in showcasing work from around the globe that has not only driven awareness and marketing for the product and/or service it is marketing, but also had a positive effect on society.

It was created in 2021 after the amount of purpose driven work being submitted into the other awards programmes grew exponentially and deserved its own platform.

  • Inclusive juries with big spending clients

The team spend months collating juries that are a true reflection of society to ensure all parts of the world are represented, while 80-90% of the judges are clients who are constantly looking for inspiration, new ideas, which makes entering the perfect place to showcase businesses and companies in front of a key audience.

  • Drive new business

More clients are looking for their agencies to show how they do more to help the world, while at the same time drive key business results through their media campaigns. It’s become part of the pitch process and allows clients to showcase their credentials to more conscious and planet aware key audiences. Clients also like to see more human credentials in the agencies they choose.

  • Retain and attract the best talent

There has been a rise in staff looking for everything from flexible working hours to hybrid working structures, while employees are looking to their companies to see what and how they are having a positive impact on the world, which becomes a great selling point for those in the business and potential new hires. It also helps drive a positive working culture.

  • Don’t be scared

We are aware that companies don’t want to be seen as green washing, or as hypocrites and we completely understand this. However, we want to reassure entrants and potential entrants this is not the case and the platform has been created to show how the industry can have a positive impact on society, no matter how small or big. This could be changed cultural perception for ten people, or feeding five homeless people. It’s important to start somewhere and to encourage more of the sector to do more as media has the power to drive change.
