Charlene Liu was born in Malaysia and has lived in the US, Singapore, China, and the Netherlands. She is an engineer, community leader, social entrepreneur, and diversity, equity & Inclusion (DEI) advocate.
Charlene graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and received a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University. She has 20+ years of working experience in the Semiconductor & Electronics and Solar industries, ranging from design, engineering, manufacturing, project management to sales and marketing. She has experience with events, corporate innovation, and management consulting at PwC and Deloitte. She was the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging APAC and Portfolio at Arcadis.
Charlene has almost 20 years of community leadership, commercial event management, and DEI advocacy experience. In 2009, she co-founded ShanghaiPRIDE, an annual volunteer-run festival promoting LGBT+ inclusion. The team was awarded Shanghai Hero by Time Out Shanghai in 2014 and Best Event Organizer in East China by Huodongxing in 2018. In 2014, she co-founded Q-Events, an event management company; in 2016, Ladies Who Tech, a social impact community for women in STEM; and in 2019, Diversity & Inclusion Consulting, a consultancy that helps corporations build a more inclusive culture. In 2024, she was appointed Chairperson of Stichting OutAsia and led Asian Pride as Chief Pride Officer.
Charlene is now embarking on a full-time journey to make the world more inclusive.
