Deputy General Secretary and Chief Commercial Officer, CONCACAF
With a proven track record in elevating CONCACAF’s commercial properties, a deep-rooted understanding of football, and more than 17 years of experience in sports marketing and communications, Mr. Jurgen Mainka serves as the Confederation’s Deputy General Secretary and Chief Commercial Officer. He plays a key role in the executive leadership team of CONCACAF providing advice on a broad range of business and sporting topics, while developing and managing strategic partnerships to maximize the commercial opportunities of the organization, around the world.
Mr. Mainka joined CONCACAF in 2012 as Director of Marketing and Communications overseeing the efforts that contributed to the growth and promotion of the game pan-regionally.
In his role, he has led marketing, sales and communications strategies and contributed to the commercial success of major tournaments, including the historic Copa America Centenario USA 2016 -where he served on the tournament’s Executive Committee-, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.
Simultaneously, Mr. Mainka has overseen the expansion of CONCACAF’s efforts to engage fans, the development of international marketing campaigns, and the enhancement of communications with Member Associations, media, and other key stakeholders.
During his career, Mr. Mainka has served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the USA Bid Committee, a non-profit organization that was created to prepare the application to host the FIFA World Cup™ in 2022 on behalf of the United States Soccer Federation.
He has also worked for professional soccer clubs in the USA including the New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids and New England Revolution, as well as leading agencies in the sports industry, including Octagon Worldwide.
