Carla Hendra is the Global Chairman and founder of OgilvyRED and also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Ogilvy Worldwide Board and a member of the Ogilvy Executive Committee.
Carla began her Ogilvy career in client management on IBM, driving the digital and demand-generation business globally. She then took on discipline leadership as President of OgilvyOne North America and was appointed co-CEO, Ogilvy North America, in 2005. Carla founded OgilvyRED, Ogilvy’s global strategic consulting business in 2012, for Ogilvy clients and prospects. OgilvyRED helps clients develop strategies in the service of growth and innovation – for their brands and businesses.
Carla’s career at Ogilvy is a story of entrepreneurship and digital innovation. She designed and launched Ogilvy’s VERGE Digital Summit series, which was expanded to 35 countries as Ogilvy’s premier digital thought leadership event. She was the founder of the OgilvyOne North America strategic Consulting group, offering strategic advisory in CRM, data and marketing technology in 1998. Carla also led the development of digital media services at OgilvyOne, which became the independent Neo@Ogilvy, and innovated in branded content with a dedicated unit founded in 2007. Carla led two acquisitions for Ogilvy: The Lacek Group loyalty specialists and Leopard, our sales enablement offering.
After being named one of Advertising Age’s “Woman to Watch” in 1999, Carla was jury chair of the 2001 Cyber Lions, the first-ever female jury chair of the Cannes International Festival of Creativity in its 50-year history. Carla was later awarded “Advertising Woman of the Year” by AWNY and the YWCA’s “W” award for her efforts to eliminate racism and empower women in the workplace. Throughout her career, Carla has balanced work with raising three children. In 2005, she was selected as one of Working Mother magazine’s “Advertising Working Mothers of the Year.”
Carla serves as a Board Director of Caleres, a multibillion dollar global footwear company; she is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Edgewell Personal Care Group.
Carla received her B.A. from The University of Chicago, graduating with honors in humanities. For postgraduate education, Carla attended UCLA to complete a premedical program and New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), where she studied Textile Design.
