Indra Suharjono is the Executive Vice-President and Managing
Director, Asia for Viacom International Media Networks
(VIMN). In this role, Suharjono leads the growth, strategic
direction and management of VIMN Southeast Asia, Greater China,
Japan and Korea with a portfolio of channels including MTV, MTV
Live HD, Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. She is also responsible for
the company's branded consumer products, program sales and digital
media offerings in the region. Based in Singapore, Suharjono
reports directly to Robert M. Bakish, CEO and President of Viacom
International Media Networks.
Suharjono was named Executive Vice-President and Managing
Director in January 2010. Prior to her current position, Suharjono
was Executive Vice-President and Managing Director for MTV Networks
Southeast Asia and Greater China, a position she has held since
December 2008. Under her leadership, Suharjono strengthened
the network's position in regional markets such as South Korea by
forming a joint venture with SBS Broadcast in September 2011. She
sits on the board of the company's joint venture SBS Viacom. She
also created a strategic alliance with The Chosunilbo, a division
of Chosun Media, for collaboration on their application for a new
General Entertainment license in South Korea.
Suharjono is the key driver for the 2013 roll out of a SpongeBob
SquarePants Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) in Southeast
Asia, China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and India. The game will be
the first-ever Nickelodeon television property to be developed as
an MMOG, and Viacom's first to be developed outside of the United
States. Suharjono was also the executive producer of the first
original installment of the MTV World Stage global
franchise in Asia, repositioned the VMAJ in 2009 that resulted in
the first profitable awards show in Japan. She also repurposed the
VMAJ 2011 to benefit the Japanese Red Cross in its disaster relief
efforts. Suharjono also launched MTV's first Asian-branded content
reality series, MTV Japan's Shibuhara Girls.
Her career at MTV Networks Asia started in January 2005 as Vice
President, Consumer Product Asia where she established an Asian
division for Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products
(NVCP). She tripled its revenues in 2006, launched new
markets such as Japan, Indonesia, China and Taiwan, and spearheaded
some of NVCP's most innovative creative concepts such as the
collaboration of Hello Kitty X Blue's Clues, Bathing Ape X
SpongeBob and the MTV fashion line with Roen in Japan.
She was promoted to Senior Vice-President in May 2006 then to
Senior Vice President and co-Managing Director International in
2007 where she oversaw licensing efforts across Asia and the Middle
East as well as NVCP's global publishing business.
Overall, she has more than 26 years of experience within the
Asia media industry. Suharjono spent 12 years at Time Warner
holding senior management positions with Warner Bros. Pictures
Int'l., Warner Bros. Consumer Products and with Turner
Entertainment Networks Asia where she was vice-president and deputy
general manager managing the Cartoon Network and TCM channels.
